KT begins operating from the Ministry of Defence premises at Jalan Padang Tembak in KL.
A management committee is appointed, selected from Armed Forces personnel working full time.
The Management Committee is headed by its first Chairman, Colonel Ishak bin Shafie.
The Armed Forces Payroll Services (Urusan Gaji Angkatan Tentera or UGAT) assists the co-operative in managing all salary deductions and membership fees, which is a key factor contributing to KT’s success.
In 1965, KT successfully registers 2,000 members.
In 1966, the Loan Policy is introduced with guidelines to curb habitual borrowing.
In 1968, permanent staff are hired to address the issue of a lack of staff continuity.
Over the 60s, KT sees improved administrative practices.
1970's
Colonel Loo Yew Phin consolidates KT accounts enabling the organization to focus on profit-making.
Brigadier Jeneral Dato’ Hassan bin Haji Mohd Saleh, Management Committee Chair (1975-78), works with Royal Professor Ungku Aziz to draft bylaws that transform KT into a multi-purpose co-operative.
These bylaws set a blueprint for multipurpose co-operatives throughout the country.
In 1978, the Management Committee is renamed the Board of Directors.
In 1976, the first Suara Koperasi is published.
KT becomes one of the first in the world to introduce group insurance for the armed forces.
In 1977, KT unveils its corporate logo.
At the end of the 70s, KT’s membership stands at nearly 40,000.
Over the 70s, investment activities grow extensively, and KT delves into the housing sector.

Capitalizing on IT infrastructure

In 2010, KT was commended as a cooperative of excellence in the large cluster category by the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (CCM)
In October 2010, KT signed an agreement to establish the Great Eastern Takaful Malaysia, a partnership between Great Eastern and KT.
In 2016, KT and Tata Consultancy Services signed an agreement to develop KT's Core Banking System.
In July 2016, KT received two awards in conjunction with the National Cooperatives Day: Best Cooperative Award and Best Cooperative Profile.
In November 2016, KT received the Anugerah Koperasi Lestari Modal Insan: Kategori Koperasi Besar.
In 2017, KT's Chairman, YBhg Mej Gen Dato' Zulkiflee bin Mazlan, signed the integrity pledge at the Co-op Bank Corporate Governance Training and Integrity Pledge Ceremony hosted by the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (CCM).
In 2017, KT received second place for the Best Cooperative in Wilayah Persekutuan and Best Cooperative Profile at the National Cooperative Day 2017.
